wilderness path

a significant inner journey

"Stairway To Heaven"

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

A wealthy woman whose eyes only see the “glitter” in what she wants in life and feels all that is of the physical, material world that can be bought can make her happy. She thinks this is how to achieve “heaven”, or her idea of the highest idea of what she thinks is happiness. She assumes this highest ideal of happiness can be obtained through the acquisition of material success and wealth.

When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed

With a word she can get what she came for.

Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Her wealth and status she perceives can buy her anything, that people who have money have special privileges and are entitled to things that other people, who according to her definitions are not wealthy or prestigious, do not deserve or are not entitled to.

She thinks she can buy her way to eternal happiness through the acquisition of a material world.

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure

'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.

She cannot think on her own, and is unsure of herself and so must be told everything. It is BECAUSE OF this insecurity that she has sought the things of the world, material success and prestige, in order to cover up this feeling of inferiority.

In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,

Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.

In nature, and on the earth, everything that is OF the natural world has a function, and knows its function. A bird never wants to be anything than what it is. It does not need gold. It does not need to be sure of itself. It does not seek acceptance from others. It does not suffer from insecurity. It knows what it is and sings in joy because it does. It is content IN what it is.

But in man and in his thought system, he does not only not know who he is but does not know what his function is on the earth.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,

Ooh, it makes me wonder.

The awareness of the natural world of nature, of animals, trees, the water, the rivers, the sun, the seasons brings one to wonder.

The awareness that man is lost in his own mind, caught in his own self-deception and does not even know it. He seeks external for all that he thinks will bring him happiness, but is deeply never satisfied IN his external pursuits. A haunting thought never leaves him alone that something is not right, but he does not trust his own thoughts. He has “misgivings”.

And this awareness, if one observes, will also bring one to wonder.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,

And my spirit is crying for leaving.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The sun comes to the earth and is born to the day that we call “sunrise”, and leaves the earth when this day is done, when the sun’s task is complete, and leaves this plane in what we call “sunset”. In his spirit, he is crying to have this same freedom, to be born to the day, and to die to the day, to have the freedom to come and leave this world at will. The sun has the freedom to come and go, but we are still here when it arrives, and we remain here when it departs. We are prisoners to the world, but the sun is free, as are all things that belong to the natural world.

We too could depart, to come and go as we please, if we were related to our spirit. But we are not. And this is a deep yearning in all people, in all of us. Our spirit hungers for us to remember it, but we are too busy with our external preoccupations of the world that keeps us occupied, and empty.

In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,

And the voices of those who stand looking.

In this mind, beyond the physical world, he has seen things that are not of this world.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,

Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And these things bring him to wonder. This wonder is something that leaves him speechless.

To wander is not to wonder. When we wander, we seek externally aimlessly. When we wonder, we are tapping into Other Forces that are calling us from beyond the trees.

And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune,

Then the piper will lead us to reason.

In a whisper, in a still silent small voice deep within us, if we are attentive, we will hear that which will guide us on our path in this world. It is an eternal song our spirit sings with which we seek to reconnect. If we call to this song within us, then That Which is the Source OF this song will guide us to wisdom and reason. It will show us our insanity and the unreasonableness of our meaningless pursuits for all the things we think will fill our spirit at this worldly level. It will show us the reason for our being here, and what our spirit is here to do.

And a new day will dawn for those who stand long,

And the forests will echo with laughter.

If we make contact with this inner song, this still small voice that is our spirit, then every day will be new, it will be our awakening, it will be our rebirth. And those who stand long, those who are determined to honor this spirit that we are, then it will come forth, it will breathe life into us that we have not ever before experienced. And when this happens, even the forests on the earth will recognize us and will laugh with joy that we have finally come to accept what we are. For we also are the trees, we are the rivers, we are the mountains, we are the wind, the rain and the boundless sky. We are all these things as the spirit we are.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,

It's just a spring clean for the May queen.

If you think your life is in order, and if that orderly life is disrupted and moves you into chaos and confusion, do not worry. It is a shedding, a letting go, a cleansing of our spirit, a letting go of something that is of no more use to us. In other words, A disturbance in us is really a blessing in disguise.” Or as it is said, Helplessness is the welcome mat for mercy”. For only a truly helpless person will invite mercy into his/her life. And to become helpless one must be willing to abandon his or her worldly pursuits for happiness, comfort, security, contentment and love.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run

There's still time to change the road you're on.

The external pursuit for anything in this world is a distraction from what we truly seek.

That which is seeking is that which we seek.

One can change his path at any point in his earthly journey from external pursuits to internal seeking.

The motivation OF seeking is INSIDE us. Why, then, do we seek OUTSIDE ourselves in an attempt to satisfy it?

If in the lifetime we are presently existing we do not awaken to the spirit we are in truth, then upon physical death we will come back, take on another body, live another life, until we DO awaken. We have already lived hundreds of lifetimes.

In the age this song came to the earth level, it was an invitation from the Spirit World to begin the process of awakening to our spirit. The Spirit uses many mediums to send Its messages to us, and has been doing so since time began, and will continue to do so until we are all awakened.

And it makes me wonder.

Pondering these things will expand one’s awareness of what one is, and will show us what we do not see with the physical eyes.

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,

The piper's calling you to join him,

There is an unsettling in our thinking, in our mind, and it will not leave us alone, and this is even more pronounced as we probe into the possibilities of these things of which we are now speaking. And if you are not sure what this deep unsettling is, it is the spirit that is calling us to join with it. It is the dim faint light deep within us that has been calling us since time began to return to our true creation, the formless, timeless, eternal spirit that we are.

This has nothing to do with religion or being religious. An eagle is not a Christian, and a Zebra is not a Buddhist. It is what it is. It is an expression of life and it knows what it is and knows what its function on the earth is, and nothing in the world can change this within it.

Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know

Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?

You are so busy seeking externally for all you think you will find to make you happy and secure, but have you stopped to listen to the wind call your name? Have you discovered to ascend to higher levels of understanding that it can only be found DEEP WITHIN YOU? Have you heard that no amount of learning in this world will ever teach you how to hear the wind sing your name to you? For this is the ONLY stairway that will lead you out of this world.

And as we wind on down the road

Our shadows taller than our soul.

Our journey though this lifetime is defined by the shadow of what we are, and not our reality. We have abandoned our soul, our spirit identity for a phantom identity, a shadow, an illusion. It “guides”, but its guidance is misguidance. Its motto is, “Seek but never find” your true self, your spirit.

There walks a lady we all know

Who shines white light and wants to show

How everything still turns to gold.

If we have eyes to see, beyond this physical world, beings of light will make themselves known to us. They only want to help us to awaken, but cannot interfere with us if we do not make their presence welcomed in our world. These light beings will show us how all things not of this world are mere reflections of higher things, and that all things are creations of our thoughts, and that this discovery, this wonder is worth more than all the gold in the world.

And if you listen very hard

The tune will come to you at last.

You cannot be partial if you truly want to make contact with the Spirit World. It will require dedication, persistence, determination, willingness and integrity to hear the song the spirit forever sings to us to awaken.

When all are one and one is all

We as spirit are all things, and no thing. We as the formless, unlimited power and energy that we are can do anything, even imprison our spirit in a tomb of rotting flesh and live a life of meaninglessness among others who collectively suffer with us. And no one is the wiser.

To be a rock and not to roll.

Our function is to give expression to the Life Force that we are. To be a rock is to have certainty of what we are, and in knowing what we are we could not ever be anything else nor would we wish to be.

The foundation of our True Reality cannot be altered or changed, nor can it be affected by changng times or shifting sands. To build a foundation on a personal self is to build a house on sand, on unstable ground. And when the wind blows and calls our name, we will not have the ears to hear, and our house will crumble and fall. Be glad when it does.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

In spite of all this, we still think we can purchase our way to Another World, to health, wealth, success and happiness. All this available to us, and we still think Spirit and Heaven are commodities that we can purchase, or can be acquired through religion or belief systems to which we cling.
