“He did not see his desire and campaign to reach more and more people
was actually counter-productive to his desire to attain more success.
For the more people he reached with his new revised inferior formula that no longer produced the healing results it once produced, the more the news spread of its lack of efficacy.”
THE PARABLE OF THE MAN AND THE HEALING FORMULA
Saturday, February 11, 2017
A man developed a formula
to heal the sick. It was so effective it became well known. For many years, many
people heard about it and sought its healing properties. This word of mouth
interest in the healing formula among the people was like an advertising
campaign that had a life of its own. The word spread like wild fire, and soon
many were flocking to find out where they may receive this healing formula.
The man, seeing the
interest in the people regarding his healing formula, saw this as an
opportunity to reach MORE people with his formula, and began devising ways to
stimulate an interest in this formula. Although no advertising was needed since
the people advertised it for him, he nevertheless became very clever in his
desire to reach more and more people, and devised the use of imagery and
stories to weave a picture for them that provoked a huge outpouring of interest
in the formula. The interest grew and grew, and the man reaped the rewards of
his healing formula, claiming his endeavors were a huge success. As it grew and
grew, he began to want more, and more, until he became blind with ambition and
his desire for success and wealth.
He even devised a way to
change the formula that would save him in various ways on the cost of
ingredients, materials and production of the formula. However, his changes of
the materials, ingredients, costs and production of the formula changed the
formula itself, and the formula began to show signs that its effects were not
as they once were. The changed formula was inferior to his original formula and
the effects on those people who took the new revised inferior formula begin to
turn the tide of interest in it. For the man, he saw no difference in the
change in formula. He felt the changes were good. Yet only to him were these
changes good. For those who took the revised inferior formula, the results were
not the same. They saw, tasted and experienced the difference in the revised inferior
formula, and the interest in the revised inferior formula began to dwindle.
Rather than correcting the
mistake of revising the formula that was now inferior to its original
counterpart, the man began an aggressive advertising campaign to generate more
and more interest in his revised inferior formula. Yet he did nothing to change
the formula back to its origin that was once an effective healing formula. The
new revised inferior formula no longer was effective. Although it looked the
same, its effects and even its taste and consistency were drastically
different. And the people knew it and reported it. As the news spread like a
negative advertising campaign throughout the community of those people who once
sought after the healing formula, the loss of and effectiveness of the healing
formula became well known.
The man’s empire began to dwindle and decline. The interest in the healing formula that was now an inferior formula took a turn in the opposite direction. Many asked about the formula that once healed many, and requested to know if it had been changed. Yet the man, unwilling to admit in honesty that he DID indeed change the formula, insisted it was not changed and was still the world class formula he originally designed. And so he campaigned to reach more and more individuals in order to compensate for his failing empire and this declining interest in the new inferior formula.
He did not see his desire and campaign to reach more and more people was actually counter-productive to his desire to attain more success. For the more people he reached with his new revised inferior formula that no longer produced the healing results it once produced, the more the news spread of its lack of efficacy. He rallied many around him to push for more contact with more people, to reach as many as possible so that many could receive the healing formula, but the efforts were in vain. For once the negative campaign began in the communities of those who once sought the healing formula, the effects snowballed.
When the man, in his
despair, attempted to engage others in an attempt to breathe life back into his
ailing enterprise, it was suggested to him to return to the original formula,
and the benefits of this would be revealed in those who would return to use the
original formula for healing. Yet the man refused to listen to the suggestions,
because the suggestions disturbed him, for he was convinced no one had a better
solution to his failing enterprise than himself.
He now would avoid anything
others would say to him that, in his estimation, was incorrect and disturbing
with which he was in disagreement. He disagreed with every suggestion offered
to him, although he expected others to follow every suggestion he offered. Yet he
could find no plan that would return his enterprise to the harmony that he once
His life became an endless
seeking of activity to keep him preoccupied with many distractions in the hope
it would keep him from facing and discovering the inevitable truth of THE
PARABLE OF THE MAN AND THE HEALING FORMULA.
And what once was a thriving source of health and well-being became a faint memory, a slight passing aroma of what once was.
